When light becomes darkness

Corruption at it's highest, was all my grandfather lamented about as we eat our evening meal of eko and beans in darkness,

The situation at hand was that we had been visited by the light distributors of my grandparent's community, they came to ask for Electricity bill and she presented it to them as requested, "this bill has not being settled in two months, said the three hungry looking men that stood in front of the house, one of them in particular opened he's mouth and said "mama if you don't want us to disconnect your light you have to drop something for the boy's"( i.e. bribe so as not to disconnect her from getting power source)  they started stating all kinds of things such as tin's of milk, Paracetamol, Sachet water, etc.

After making a long unending list that was rounding up to 3000 naira. Despite the fact that the so dispensed electricity was not constant, with a maximum power supply of 2 hours in a day, and there they were asking a bribe of that much. With Holy anger she said NO and they left with nothing and then it occurred to me ' why would men or should i say Father's  be asking an old woman of over 60 years of age who still awaits "a said ghost pension" with no hope of getting it before she answers the call of God, for a bribe.
I await your answer.
