I don't have a culture.

What we lost to colonialism

My friend Cesar was to present his culture for we AIESECAR'S to see, he came forward and said due to effect of colonialism on his country côte d'voire, most of he's country's culture was lost (they adopted the French culture) and most of them except you have lived in the village do not know their native language, native food or culture.

In his words he said "how can you learn if your father himself do not know". Colonialism has led to the culturally handicap of most African American countries, most Africans country's practice cultures of people who colonized them e. g FRANCE, BRITISH, GERMAN, PORTUGUESE, e. t. c.

This is one of the problems affecting most Nigerian citizens, parents now consider teaching and speaking of native language as barbaric. The young lads don't also see a big deal in not knowing how to speak their native language. Everyone wants to speak in the "good morning tongue". Promoting one man's language and leaving yours to suffer.

I once heard on the radio an advert for people to come and learn the igbo language because it has been predicted that in the next 50 years some languages will go into extinction. A friend sitting next to me started insulting the organizers of the event saying if she wanted to learn her language she would have gone to the village.

Which brings us to another matter, Biko come oh one of the reasons why Nigeria import more than they export is because of rural-urban migration, all the big muscles are on runaways for fashion shows, while Old people and the dependant population are left in the village to till the land, we depend mostly on food from the northern area of Nigeria, if the transportation system fails or take for instance during the major Boko Haram crisis when the links from the north to some part of Nigerian was broken, there was inflation of money, starvation as well as increase in food prices.

Nigeria is a country that depends on finished goods from countries they send raw materials to, take a look at the Ajaokuta factory, it has been laying in waste, shut down and rendered useless.

We should learn to be productive in Nigeria, let's pick up our tools, bend our backs and start working. Remember United we stand, I divine we fall.
